Best of 2025: Year-End Roundup of the Editors’ Must-Read Comics!
As 2025 comes to an end, we gathered our lovely comic editors into one (virtual) room asked them to shout out the comics they couldn’t stop thinking about in 2025. From laugh-out-loud moments to panels that hit hard, these strips truly stood out. We present to you a year-end roundup that celebrates the full, weird, wonderful spectrum of comics we loved this year! Amy’s picks: The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee: July 30, 2025 The relationship between Edison and Orville makes me laugh. A misheard word gag has Orville canvassing the dandelions instead of doing the yardwork. This is a kind of sweet political commentary I can get behind. Flash Gordon: April 24, 2025 On the outskirts of Magic Town, two academy students attempt to prank Bok and end up body switching Flash and Dale. In this mid-story strip, as the Skel attackers approach, I can see Dale’s expression in Flash and vice versa. I love Dan’s work! Treat yourself to the entire storyline. Bizarro: January 30, 2025 Bizarro+chicken nugget humor. I offer no further explanation. Comedy gold. Jen’s Picks: Sally Forth: November 14, 2025 The look on Hilary’s face […]
Inside the Wonderfully Weird World of Bizarro: A Conversation with Wayno
For nearly 40 years, Bizarro has been a daily invitation into the surreal — a single-panel glimpse into an alternate universe where deadpan absurdity, visual puzzles, and hidden symbols all coexist in perfect harmony. In our latest episode of Inside the Kingdom, we sat down with Wayno, the artist behind the Monday–Saturday strip, to explore process, partnership, creativity, and what it means to carry forward one of the most distinctive voices in comics Deadlines, Discipline, and the Art of Staying Ahead While many cartoonists live slightly behind schedule, Wayno lives months ahead. Literally. When asked how he manages the grind of six strips per week, he revealed that he keeps himself precisely — and proudly — about 12 weeks ahead of publication, tracked down to the decimal on an intensely detailed spreadsheet. “I’m like 11.8 weeks ahead,” he laughed. “If anybody else sees this stuff, it looks insane.” He treats cartooning like brushing teeth: one day at a time, one panel at a time. “You don’t wake up thinking you need to brush your teeth 14 times this week. You just do it once, and then you do it again […]

Celebrating the 78th Annual Reuben Awards: Hilary B. Price and Wayno Shine
The 78th Annual Reuben Awards took place this past weekend, honoring the best and brightest talents in cartooning and illustration. The event, hosted by the National Cartoonists Society (NCS), is one of the most prestigious ceremonies in the industry, recognizing outstanding achievements across various categories. Hilary Price: Cartoonist of the Year Hilary Price, creator of the beloved comic strip Rhymes with Orange, was honored with the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. This prestigious accolade is a testament to Price’s exceptional talent, creativity, and consistent ability to resonate with readers. Over the years, Rhymes with Orange has become a staple in comics, celebrated for its sharp wit, insightful humor, and relatable content. Price’s ability to capture the quirks of everyday life in a single panel has endeared her to audiences and peers alike. She was presented the award by Lynn Johnston, who commented, “This one comes with an ‘at last’ …,” after which the entire room erupted in a chorus of cheers of respect and love from her fellow cartoonists. Price began collaborating with Rina Piccolo (Tina’s Groove, Six Chix) on Rhymes with Orange in 2017. The creative […]

It’s a story right out of a comic book: the Bizarro cartoonists remember their first meeting with a mix of humor and nostalgia. Editor’s Dispatch: Happy 100th Birthday, Charles Schulz!
Hi, all! I hope you are recovering from your Thanksgiving feasts if you celebrate! Today, Saturday, November 26, is a very important day for comics history: the 100th birthday of Charles “Sparky” Schulz, the creator of Peanuts, one of the most beloved comic strips of all time. Usually, we only post about birthdays related to King Features comics, but Mr. Schulz was such an inspiration and good friend to so many of our cartoonists and had so much influence on the direction of not just comics but pop culture in the 20th century that we wanted to celebrate his legacy. Patrick McDonnell, the creator of MUTTS, spearheaded this project in collaboration with the Charles M. Schulz Museum to celebrate this special birthday! As you look around Comics Kingdom today, you will see many of cartoonists have contributed to this celebration by honoring Mr. Schulz in their comic strips. Here is a collection where you can see them all together! Todd the Dinoaur by Patrick Roberts Crankshaft by Tom Batiuk and Dan Davis Rhymes With Orange by Hilary Price & Rina PIccolo The Lockhorns by Bunny Hoest and John Reiner Daddy […]Bizarro Caption Contest
