Best of 2025: Year-End Roundup of the Editors’ Must-Read Comics!

As 2025 comes to an end, we gathered our lovely comic editors into one (virtual) room asked them to shout out the comics they couldn’t stop thinking about in 2025. From laugh-out-loud moments to panels that hit hard, these strips truly stood out. We present to you a year-end roundup that celebrates the full, weird, wonderful spectrum of comics we loved this year!
Amy’s picks:
The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee: July 30, 2025

The relationship between Edison and Orville makes me laugh. A misheard word gag has Orville canvassing the dandelions instead of doing the yardwork. This is a kind of sweet political commentary I can get behind.

On the outskirts of Magic Town, two academy students attempt to prank Bok and end up body switching Flash and Dale. In this mid-story strip, as the Skel attackers approach, I can see Dale’s expression in Flash and vice versa. I love Dan’s work! Treat yourself to the entire storyline.

Bizarro+chicken nugget humor. I offer no further explanation. Comedy gold.
Jen’s Picks:
Sally Forth: November 14, 2025

The look on Hilary’s face when her grandma mentions her crush. Jim Keefe captured that teen angst perfectly, and it made me laugh.
Never Been Deader: December 6, 2025

What I love about Never Been Deader is that every single one feels like a perfectly memeable snapshot of life in an office environment. Each strip captures the subtle absurdities, quiet frustrations and dark humor that come with working a corporate job. So many people can instantly relate to the soul-crushing weight of corporate life, which is exactly what makes his work resonate—it feels honest, cathartic and uncomfortably familiar in the best way.
Megan’s Picks

I like this strip in general, and this was one I really related to. I have done the “multi-grocery-bags” juggling trick many times myself, and now I have a new goal to strive for.
Working Cats: October 29, 2025

As a cat owner, this one speaks to me. We have all inflicted these indignities on our cats, and have thought they must be thinking such things and plotting their revenge.
Insanity Streak: January 8, 2025

This one just hit right and made me laugh.
Ealish’s Picks
Rhymes with Orange: September 17, 2025

As editors, we appreciate a good meta-joke.

The culmination of a delightful summer-long tale, Curtis makes an elderly woman’s year when he brings her the happiest dog you ever did see. I love how Ray Billingsley draws animals, and this elated pup is no exception!
Legend of Bill: October 9, 2025

Even in the middle of a deadly serious quest, Bill makes room for the important things.
From single-panel laughs to sprawling stories that packed a punch, these picks capture the range, creativity, and joy that comics brought us this year. As we close the book on this year-end roundup, we hope you discovered a new favorite (or two) to add to your reading list. Here’s to more laughs, surprises, and unforgettable comics in 2026!
