Rosebuds Goes Daily: A New Routine (with Extra Peanut Butter)

Here’s some news worth sharing: Deon Parson’s comic Rosebuds has officially gone daily on Comics Kingdom as of June 1st!

This past year, readers really connected with Rosa, Maria, and Maricela Gonzalez. The feedback was clear—people wanted more of their daily antics. Deon mentioned, “Even friends like Luca Debus (creator of Wannabe) kept bugging me for extra Rosebuds. And honestly, who can ignore Luca?”

Going daily isn’t just about frequency; it’s a chance for Deon to explore more detailed storylines and dive deeper into the sisters’ everyday dynamic. Newspaper editors also noticed the change, keen to introduce Rosebuds to new print readers, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Week One Recap: Lunch, Courtesy of Maricela

The first week as a daily strip centered around Maricela trying her best (and somewhat succeeding) to make lunch for Rosa. Why? Because Rosa “works super hard,” Maricela figured she’d show her appreciation in sandwich form, and honestly, I wish someone had shown me their appreciation in the same way, too.

Each day unfolded with Maricela’s sincere efforts and questionable combinations, culminating in Rosa happily munching a peanut butter, gummy worm, and marshmallow sandwich. Because in their house, that’s basically gourmet.

Maricela’s late-night spiral: Overthinking, big-sister guilt, and the eternal struggle of meeting realistic expectations.
Maricela’s love language is lunch prep. Maria’s is… negotiating for a fruit cup from under the covers.
Before the sandwich comes the style. Señor Bun and Maricela suit up to become culinary assaggiatori sopraffini!
A sprinkle of love, a splash of chaos, and a squish for the perfect sandwich—Maricela and Señor Bun are cooking up feelings.
Rosa walks in. Maricela delivers a heartfelt lunch. Rosa.exe stops working. Cuteness overload detected.
Rosa feels the love. Maricela beams with pride. The sandwich? An avant-garde sugar bomb only a sibling could appreciate.

Going daily also this gives me the chance to do proper stories and themed weeks that dive more into the sisters’ relationships with themselves, each other and anyone else that they know. Every direction has been pointing to this moment and I think it’s an incredible “next chapter” for Rosebuds. Very few comics today make it to being a daily feature and I’m honored Rosebuds gets a chance to step up and show out.

Deon mentioned he’s now considering a Rosebuds daily calendar. At this pace, maybe we won’t have to wait until 2030 after all.

More strips, more sandwiches—stick around. Rosebuds is now live DAILY right here on Comics Kingdom!
