About

Todd The Dinosaur

Todd the Dinosaur revolves around the comic adventures of a restless 7-year-old, 12-foot-tall, three-ton T-Rex who lives with his friend, Trent, and attends elementary school. Ironically, Todd doesnrsquot stand out among his classmates because he is accepted as any second grader would be.

Created by Patrick Roberts, Todd the Dinosaur gives an offbeat and imaginative glimpse of what life would be like with a T-Rex living in your house ? had dinosaurs survived asteroids hitting the earth, the Ice Age, or being unable to floss properly because their tiny arms couldnrsquot reach their mouths and dying out from gingivitis.

With his huge head, saw-like teeth and little arms, Todd will captivate the attention of children, enrapture dinosaur lovers and charm readers with his childlike innocence and endearing disposition.

On the food chain of wacky fun, Todd the Dinosaur chomps the cake ? and anything else not nailed down!

Characters

Todd

A perfect specimen of the T-Rexus Eatemupus species, Todd is sweet, gullible, innocent, charming, always hungry and not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Todd is in second grade and goes to school with normal kids in the modern world and no one seems to be fazed that he IS a T-Rex. One of these years, he hopes to graduate to third grade; however, his never getting the hang of coloring inside the lines keeps holding him back.

Trent Footbridge

Mild mannered, easy going, regular guy by day and, well…mild mannered, easy going, regular guy by night. But that’s why Trent is able to tolerate a T-Rex living in his house and eating all his food. Trent’s a guy’s guy who likes hamburgers, football, action movies and has to sit through an occasional chick flick because his girlfriend, Susie, says so.

Susie Sumner

Susie Sumner is Trent’s girlfriend. She and Trent have been dating for three years, so she is well-accustomed to Todd’s clumsy ways. Susie is a sweet soul, who has the patience of a saint. She is very kind and attentive to Todd, often providing him with the nurturing and motherly touch that Trent so admittedly lacks.

Alan

Alan is Todd’s best friend from down the street. He and Todd are in the same class, hang out a lot and can often be found playing with Hot Wheels.

Author

Patrick Roberts

Patrick Roberts never wanted to be a cartoonist. He was quite content working as a professional technical writer.

Born in El Paso, Texas in 1962, Patrick moved to Lawton, Okla. at the age of 5. His family thought they better go along for the trip too. Patrick graduated from Cameron University in 1985 with a major in sociology and a minor in management. In 1986, Patrick was hired by Unisys Corporation, where he worked for 16 years.

At the age of 33, he read a small chapter about cartooning in the back of a book and thought, Hmm, I wonder if I could do that. Sitting down with some pens and a pile of paper, Patrick drew a single panel cartoon and thought to himself, “Hey, that’s kind of funny. Let me try another one.”

Throughout his single panel cartoons, a T-Rex kept reappearing. Like a typical muse, Todd the T-Rex gradually demanded more than one panel to adequately express himself, so Patrick complied. It snowballed from there, and a new career path was forged. In 2001, The Oklahoman, Oklahoma’s largest newspaper, started publishing Todd the Dinosaur. Later, this attracted the attention of the late Jay Kennedy of King Features Syndicate. Kennedy told Patrick the same thing The Oklahoman editor said years earlier: That Todd the Dinosaur is very endearing and the strip should be syndicated. And, so it began.
