There Goes the Welcome Wagon: Meet Sunny with a Chance of Heat
We barely got to Sunny Acres before the lightning hit.
The locals were doing such a good job selling the place, too. Those eager faces deserve a better reception than this.
Welcome to Sunny with a Chance of Heat, our newest comic on Comics Kingdom! The strip welcomes us into a mobile home park where sibling life and pet trouble share space with escaped robots and aliens. If you like getting attached to a whole neighborhood of oddballs, there’s plenty here to get curious about.
Start with brothers Jim and Teddy Goth, who moved here from England. Jim works at Bleeding Ears Record Store and loves punk music, with a secret soft spot for the Bee Gees. Teddy is a Star Trek geek with an imagination that ought to keep him busy even without everything happening outside.
Their cat, Mr. Mayhem, is actually a Florida panther. He destroys collectibles and leaves hairballs in unfortunate places, which should make anyone with a cat feel right at home. The panther part might take some getting used to.
Jim’s girlfriend, Mia, runs Nothing Bundt Cake and Coffee and owns a ferret named NO! Then there’s B-9, a self-aware NASA robot who escaped Mars and now lives in the Tree Fort of Justice as a microwave/refrigerator combo. All that way, and he’s still working.
Tim Tyler brings more than 40 years in comics and illustration to Sunny, his first venture into syndicated-style strips. His credits include work on or creation of Dreadstar, Razor and Blood Reign. We’re glad this new neighborhood has landed here.
Read the welcome to Sunny Acres, meet the rest of the cast, and add Sunny with a Chance of Heat to your favorites.
