AN INTERVIEW WITH JEREMY FROM ZITS

Jeremy Duncan is still your favorite Ohio-based 16-year-old aspiring rockstar. Alongside his best friends Pierce and Hector, he formed the unforgettable band “Goat Cheese Pizza.” With dreams of taking their music across the country (or at least as far as their allowance and parental patience allow), they’re determined to keep the spirit of live music thriving, even if Warped Tour has long since left the stage.
Aside from shredding guitar solos, Jeremy maintains impressive grades—much to the shock of anyone who’s seen his bedroom. “He’s smart, no question,” says Walt Duncan, Jeremy’s dad. “But I’d love it if he realized calling me ‘Boomer’ ironically doesn’t make it less annoying. I’m Gen X, man.”
As he navigates high school, Jeremy balances classes, band practices, and managing the drama of his complicated relationship with his “sort of” girlfriend, Sara. We managed to catch Jeremy between rehearsals and TikTok binges for an exclusive in-person interview in his iconic bedroom, still steeped in teenage spirit and a vague aroma of forgotten pizza.
So, what’s it like to star in the legendary comic strip Zits? Is Jeremy ready to tackle junior year? And what’s next for “Goat Cheese Pizza”? Let’s dive in!
Music was louder than my parents—that’s why I picked up guitar.
Jeremy Duncan
“Yo.”
How’s everything, Jeremy?
Climate anxiety, AI homework, family hoverboards… basically living the dream. How about you?
Uh… yeah, pretty great. Wait—is something moving in that laundry pile?
We co-exist peacefully. Mostly.
How’s school? Best subject this year?
Maintaining a solid 4.0 and still impressing no one. I guess my strongest subject is “not causing trouble.”
Any thoughts on a college major?
Music. Neuroscience. Aerospace Engineering. Medieval Poetry. Basically, something my parents won’t understand.
Your parents say you tend to slack off sometimes—care to comment?
[Jeremy silently points to a meme on his phone instead of answering.]
How do you feel about Ohio? Any desire to move?
Absolutely anywhere else would be ideal.
Just avoid Florida—alligators, hurricanes, and retirement homes.
Yeah, I’ll trust you on that one.
What made you pick up guitar?
Music was louder than my parents.
Your band, Goat Cheese Pizza—where’d the name come from?
We ate it once. Deadline panic did the rest. “Flatulent Rat” was already trademarked.
Any major musical influences?
Bad Interview Questions, Overdue Laundry, Awkward Silence, and obviously, Your Mom Cuts Your Hair.
Wait, Your Mom Cuts Your Hair? Loved their hologram reunion last year! Iconic stuff.
Epic.
Band milestones or future plans?
Practice. Argue. Repeat.
We need the scoop: Sara—official or…?
Define “official.”
Okay, that’s a wrap, Jeremy. Anything else?
Yeah, could you remind my parents it’s pizza night? And tell everyone to stream our songs. Peace!
