This week, we spotlight Tommy Devoid, the genius behind Never Been Deader.

Meet Tommy Devoid

Tommy Devoid is a self-taught artist and cartoonist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He started out as a pen-and-ink artist and eventually expanded into the world of digital media. He has gained popularity in recent years on social media for his uniquely vivid, colorful skeleton creations, which combine with his wicked and, at times, ghastly sense of humor. His ever-evolving skill set resulted in his newest creation, the comic Never Been Deader.

Our editor, Jennifer Beck, recently had the chance to sit down with Tommy and ask him some fun and intriguing questions to get a glimpse into the mind behind the comic.

1) What would your superpower be?

If I had a superpower, it would be the ability to see perfectly in the dark. That way, I could leave my blackout curtains closed all day 🙂

2) What fictional character would you like to be friends with?

I would be friends with Gandalf the Grey. We would go on many adventures, and maybe he’d let me wear that hat!

3) What is the #1 thing on your bucket list?

My number one bucket list item is to have a room dedicated only to Legos.

4) Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Adam Driver. He’s a bit dark, quirky, and has long hair.

5) What advice do you have for aspiring comic artists?

Oh boy… advice. I wouldn’t even take my advice lol. But I would say to create what you are proud of and enjoy. If you enjoy what you are creating, then everything that comes with that is a bonus.
