1980s – Promotions

Readers often ask us if Beetle will ever get promoted. The answer is “probably not.” He wouldn’t be the same lovable goof-off if he were a higher rank. He needs to be at the bottom of the pecking order.

In the Sunday page above, Sarge reviews a number of reasons why Beetle shouldn’t be promoted.

Sarge is another character who has never been promoted. He makes his case, with the help of Cosmo, in this episode from 2019.

Perhaps someday, one of the characters at Camp Swampy will get a promotion. Or maybe not. It’s fun to keep our readers wondering.
