Timeline – 2010 Part 3

Hiram Flagston and his next door neighbor, Thirsty Thurston, are weekend duffers. In the episode above they show up for an early tee off time and discover they aren’t the only ones trying to beat the crowds. 

Golf is a popular pastime that is depicted frequently in the strip. It’s a sport that many of our readers participate in. The frustrations of struggling to master the skills of the game are a rich source for humor.

Mort Walker was an avid golfer for most of his life. His last round was in November 2017, a few months before he passed away on January 27, 2018. Here is a photo of Mort in his 90s playing a round at the Silvermine Golf Club.

We previously documented how Mort first took up the game in the 1950s and shared some stories about his reputation for playing in all kinds of weather.
