Hello out there in comics land, and happy June! Your Comics Kingdom team is still working remotely, and we hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Edgar’s got a bunch of fun comic posts lined up for you in the coming weeks!
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Rae the Doe! I love Rae the Doe, and I know you will, too!
In another era, Rae the Doe and her adorable animal friends might have frolicked in sunny fields all day, but Rae, like other millennial woodland creatures, is usually way too stressed out for frolicking. Instead, Rae has honed her talent for finding things to be anxious about— whether it’s job security, gender transition, or wondering if those people she met at that party like her, she’s probably silently freaking out about it. She’s lucky she has her sense of humor, her laid-back skunk girlfriend, Mimi, and an amazing cadre of supportive friends to remind her that she’s a pretty great young lady.
Olive Brinker, Rae the Doe’s creator, self-published Rae The Doe online for two years before finding a home with King Features. Rae the Doe is a quirky, hilarious, and heartwarming celebration of queer joy, friendship, and growing up. Rae the Doe is our first comic that focuses on LGBTQ characters, and I am so thrilled to be able to share Rae with you all, especially this Pride month! She’ll be visiting us five times a week!
