ISABELLA BANNERMAN’S NEW PROJECT

By Edgar Ortiz

Six ChixIsabella Bannerman has been quite busy this year! Besides bringing us quality gags every Monday, she has been hard at work with an upcoming feminist comic anthology titled Shameless Feminists, a collection of different stories told in comic form and illustrations. Included in this collection are the works of multiple cartoonists and writers, including Bannerman herself. Her featured comic tells the story of her mother’s experiences as a young refugee in Italy during World War II. A celebration of the release will be held at Printed Matter Inc. in New York City on Sunday, December 8, from 4pm – 6pm. There will be a short slide show of artwork from the book, followed by a gathering and a chance to buy signed copies!

Additionally, Bannerman will be part of an art exhibit taking place between November 7 and January 24 at the Yonkers Riverfront Library in Yonkers, NY. Its focus will be on immigration, showcasing different works of art that tell the stories of the people who come to the United States for a better way of life, as well as enriching our culture with their own.

You can pre-order Shameless Feminists, which is due out on December 3, right hereAnd if you’re in the Yonkers area, be sure to check out the immigration art exhibit! You can find out more about it here.
