National Memorial for Peace and Understanding

This was a deeply moving and emotional day for us as we drove to Montgomery AL to tour the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the adjacent Legacy Museum. These were dedicated to the victims of lynchings throughout American history, presented in a way that was sorrowful, respectful and breathtaking in their impact.
A vast number of rectangular shapes hang from above, each of which features the names and dates of those who were murdered by racial violence in each county. It’s probably best to let the images speak for themselves.
