Snuffy Smith Cartoonist John Rose Among Guest Artists At Walt Disney’s Hometown Toonfest In Marceline, MO

Walt Disney’s Hometown Toonfest in Marceline, Missouri will be celebrating its 19th year on Saturday, September 16, 2017. King Features’ Barney Google and Snuffy Smith cartoonist, John Rose, is one of this year’s Guest Artists honored at the festival. “I have been a huge fan of Walt Disney my entire life. He has been a big inspiration in my cartooning career, so being asked to participate in this festival is quite an honor. It is a dream come true,” Rose said.

On September 16th, all five of the Guest Artists will be Grand Marshals in a parade down Main Street USA in Marceline from 10:00 am-11:00 am. The parade also features bands, floats, princesses, pirates and more. Presentations will be immediately following the parade in front of the Toonfest Office. The Disney-themed day continues with craft booths, great food and fun for the entire family. Then from 12:30 pm -5:00 pm the Guest Artists will lead a Cartoon Symposium at the Walsworth Community Center. From 11:00 am – 5:00 pm there will also be the 11th Annual International Cartoon Art Show and Silent Auction in the Community Center. The Walt Disney Hometown Museum is open from 10:00am-4:00pm on that day, as well.

Marceline, Missouri is the boyhood hometown of Walt Disney. In addition to celebrating Walt Disney, Toonfest has grown into a festival celebrating men and women from the A-list in the world of cartooning and animation. Other King Features cartoonists that are Toonfest Guest Artist Alumni from previous years include: Mort Walker, Mike Peters, Jim Borgman, Chris Browne, Marcus Hamilton, Sandra Bell-Lundy, Jeff Keane, John Hambrock, Terri Libenson, Steve Kelley and Jeff Parker.
