Fall Foliage #11

Hi and Lois Sunday page, November 9, 1975.

Our final episode in this fall foliage series, at least until next year, is a Dik Browne classic.

In panels #4 through #8, Hi and Lois are shown driving past sunlit trees, fields of crops, a charming waterfall, a dairy farm and a sailboat at sea. These scenes are rendered with fine detail, dramatic perspective and balanced coloring. The overall effect helps set up Lois’ punch line at the end. As I have stated here many times, Dik was a master of cartoon composition.

Holiday season is upon us now, so look for some Christmas themed strips in upcoming posts.
