Hi, all! It’s National Kissing Day today!
In honor of this special day, I asked all our cartoonists to share kissing stories and cartoons! So close your eyes and pucker up…
John Rose, Barney Google & Snuffy Smith:
Granny and Grampy are characters I created about 15 years ago. They are an older couple and have been married a very long time, but they are still very much in love and sweet on each other. This comic strip shows them right before they are about to kiss.
Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead:
How romantic! Or is it pedantic? Or is it transatlantic? Anyway,
they’re in love.
Hilary Price, Rhymes with Orange:
A trick in cartooning that I learned from an editor– if it is too risqué to talk about a topic in present day, you can put in the past and it’ll fly…so I redrew this strip as the wild west.
Patrick Roberts, Todd the Dinosaur:
Bud Grace, The Piranha Club:
Hey. I know all about kissing. So does Arnold. This is from 1994. If you want to see the rest of the story go to my blog.
Bill Holbrook, Kevin & Kell, On the Fastrack, and Safe Havens:
The most momentous kiss in Safe Havens was when Samantha and Dave were married, after accidentally switching bodies. Of course, that wore off at the worst possible time…
Dan Piraro, Bizarro:
Around the year 2000, I did a small handful of odd little poems as Sunday comics. This one about kissing is one of my enduring favorites.
Alex Hallatt, Arctic Circle:
Kissing is so important! If the kissing is terrible, there is no point going any further…
Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace:
This has always been one of my favorite Hank vignettes…..AND it includes kissing!
Terri Libenson, The Pajama Diaries:
