Ask a Cartoonist: Independence Day!

by Tea

Independence Day is fast approaching, and in celebration of the birth of the United States, I asked our cartoonists to send along their favorite 4th of July strips!

Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace:

They didn’t call him DENNIS THE MENACE for nothing 60 years ago(when this one ran).

David Reddick, Intelligent Life:

I can neither confirm nor deny as to whether this 4th of July escapade was inspired by actual events.

Jim Keefe, Flash Gordon & Sally Forth:

One of my favorite Sally Forth 4th of July strips is actually an upcoming one. Here’s a preview.

Bill Holbrook, Kevin & Kell, On the Fastrack, & Safe Havens:

Dethany enjoys her firework displays wherever she can find them.

Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead:

Zippy makes an annual pilgraamage to the Miss Albany Diner in upstate New York every 4 th of July to proclaim his love for this beautiful land of ours.
His motto this year: “Let’s Make America Grilled Again!”

John Rose, Barney Google & Snuffy Smith:

Here’s one of my favorite Snuffy Smith comic strips from a Fourth of July several years ago! Bodacious Fourth of July wishes everyone!

And last but not least, Mort Walker of Beetle Bailey sent us a special 4th of July sketch:
