Valentine’s Day is a holiday that is regularly celebrated in Hi and Lois. Shopping for gifts, making cards, going out to dinner, eating candy and expressing love and devotion are among the many themes we use to honor this special day. The Sunday page above, from 2011, provided Chance Browne with an opportunity to draw like Dot and Ditto.
Washington’s Birthday, as it is still officially named, is a Federal Holiday that is celebrated on the third Monday in February. It falls on the day after Valentine’s Day this year. Since 1971 this holiday has been known as Presidents’ Day to honor all of the chief executives.

In this Presidents’ Day Sunday page from 2008, Chance Browne drew caricatures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt. He enjoys the challenge of featuring different art techniques in the strip.
