Proof that cartoonists have some of the biggest hearts in the world– this week, Patrick McDonnell of Mutts and Jim Toomey of Sherman’s Lagoon both act to help save animals and show us what we can do, too!
If you haven’t seen Shelter Me, the PBS series that tells the uplifting, inspiring, and heartwarming stories of shelter pets, you’re in for a treat! The new episode, titled “Shelter Me: Hearts and Paws,” is presented by the Petco Foundation and will debut in May. It features our very own Patrick McDonnell of Mutts, who was recently filmed as he spent several days inside Animal Care Centers (ACC) of NYC.
Every year, Patrick runs a special series of “shelter stories”– comics about real pets living in shelters and the lucky, lovable furballs who get adopted from shelters every year. This week, Patrick draws on his experience with Animal Care Centers (ACC) of NYC, the focus of this episode of Shelter Me, for his Shelter Stories cartoons. Read a new Shelter Story every day this week, starting today!
While Patrick is hard at work helping out our furry friends, Jim Toomey of Sherman’s Lagoon is focusing on the well-being of our friends with fins!
Working with the Pew Charitable Trusts, Jim created ten important, animated videos to teach everyone about sea life and ocean conservation.
