Hi Folks!
What you’ll find in today’s Cartoon Niblets issue of the Charming-Yet-Infrequent Newsletter:
THE ONLINE CARTOONING CLASS- SIGN UP!
“Make It Funny: The Basics of Writing and Drawing Single Panel Cartoons.”
It’s a one week online class, and you can do it around your work schedule. (There aren’t live lectures.) It’s a how-to for getting ideas, refining them and drawing them up.
The class is through Fine Arts Work Center program of Provincetown, MA, famous as a summer arts colony. I really like teaching, and I have more than a few tips and tricks after doing this job for 20 years. I will be my first experience teaching online, but I’m already writing out the curriculum. Just today I was writing out this lesson: Making Puns Actual Jokes.
One week intensive, limit of 12 students, April 25-29.

A SHORT RADIO PIECE ABOUT MATCHING UP CARTOONISTS AND VETERANS
This story is SO worth a listen, about one man’s journey at the VA hospital and the project of illustrating it.
THE SHREWSBURY CARTOON FESTIVAL IN ENGLAND
I’m heading across the pond with The Notorious B.U.Z. (that would be my mom, Buzzy) to attend the Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival on April 16th. It’s open to all, so come on out for the fun and get your shrew on!
And we’re also dragging Buzzy’s sister (my aunt) with us. So it’s a three-fer!
THE NATIONAL CARTOON!ST
Everyone’s got a trade mag, and we’ve gone through the back stacks of ours to cull the interesting bits and share them around. Lots of off-the-cuff napkin-y sketches and some neat insider-y interviews.
DOES DRINKING THAT GET YOU THERE?
What you see as you exit the highway in my town.
MY CHILDHOOD DOG
I like how he modestly draped his tie over his business.
Thanks for tuning in!
