In a previous post, dated March 20, 2013, we explained the creation of a special series that ran in Hi and Lois during the 1960s. Here is an excerpt from that post:
The “Theory of the Month Club” began in 1966 and was inspired by the 1946 book, “Baby and Child Care,” by Dr. Benjamin Spock. In each episode, the parents would present a well meaning solution to a family issue in an idealistic attempt to get the kids to cooperate. The children, of course, would always find a way to outsmart these directives.
The “Theory of the Month Club” was an immensely popular feature in the strip for a number of years and gave Dik Browne the opportunity to do some beautiful calligraphy.
Here are two more “Theory of the Month Club” episodes from the second year of the series.
