Tuesday’s Top Ten Comics on Money Manners
This week, Comics Kingdom welcomes guest bloggers, Jeanne Fleming and Leonard Schwarz, who write the King Features’ nationally syndicated column, “Money Manners,” to pick their favorite 10 money- and etiquette-themed comics. In the witty style for which they are known, Jeanne and Leonard provide their honest and humorous feedback on this week’s selection of Tuesday’s Top Ten Comics.
1. Waiters say they can always spot a bad tipper. Of course, customers don’t have much trouble spotting poor service either.
2. Dustin’s got it right. It’s always easy to spend other people’s money.
3. Ambrose Bierce wryly defined an acquaintance as “a person whom we know well enough to borrow from, but not well enough to lend to.” Too bad, Tina, but now you know: That’s how your “friend” thinks of you.
4. This Pajama Diaries comic reminds us of King Lear — Instill in your children a sense of entitlement, and this is how they repay you.
5. Jeremy in Zits has just learned the truth in the old adage, “Borrow money from a pessimist. They don’t expect it back.”
6. Wherever Frankenstein got his brain, he got a good one. The only gift it’s acceptable to recycleis green and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Treasury.
7. Can anybody really be this tight? In our experience, yes.
8. We’re with Leroy Lockhorn. The uninhibited greed of so many couples today is appalling.
9. It’s a good thing Curtis will never grow up. Because people aren’t so forgiving of an adult moocher.
10. There are three types of people: check-grabbers, check-splitters and check-dodgers. If you go out to more than one meal with a dodger, you have only yourself to blame. Dagwood should have known better.
