The flat we’ve rented in Hondarribia doesn’t have a balcony, or even windows with access to much light (it is in the old town and designed for shade). It is lovely to be able to walk out into the countryside and see the caserios (country houses) with their gardens.

Fig and fruit trees. I also saw walnut and chestnut trees.
On the outskirts of the town there are larger houses with large vegetable gardens (huertas).
I like the companion planting of the corn and beans. The corn supports the beans and the beans fix nitrogen for the corn.
