HeroesCon 2015!!
Along with King Features cartoonists, Marcus Hamilton, Bill Holbrook and the mighty Stan Lee, I was one of the guests at HeroesCon 2015 in Charlotte, NC this past weekend. Like usual, this year’s Heroes was a bodacious time for all! Here are a few photos from the weekend:
Marcus Hamilton (Dennis the Menace dailies) and I did some jam art for the Heroes benefit auction. I drew Snuffy Smith reading a Dennis The Menace comic book and Marcus drew Dennis reading a Snuffy Smith comic book. Marcus drew his with a blank comic book cover and I drew Snuffy on his wonderful piece of art. I drew mine with a blank comic book cover, as well, and Marcus drew Dennis on my drawing. It’s always an honor for me to collaborate with him! This photo shows Marcus holding my artwork and me holding his!
A close-up shot of the two original pieces of art.
Comic book legend, the incredible Roy Thomas (Stan Lee’s first successor as editor at Marvel Comics, The Avengers, Conan The Barbarian, Star Wars, etc…), looking over our original art! Roy was our table-mate for the second year in a row. What an amazing talent he is!
Also in our section of Artist’s Alley for the second year were Jim and Heidi Amash. Jim is a great comic book artist and a man of a million jokes! He works on Sonic The Hedgehog, Archie, Betty and Veronica and more.
My daughter, Meredith (right), attended HeroesCon with me again this year and was a tremendous help to both myself and Marcus. She is pictured here with young Haleigh Vance who was attending her first HeroesCon! Haleigh and her parents are friends of ours who recently moved to Charlotte and surprised us by stopping by to visit our table.
Visiting with my talented friends Tom Heintjes (Hogan’s Alley) and Bill Holbrook (On The Fastrack, Safe Havens, Kevin and Kell).
Dennis and Snuffy together again: Marcus and I with our banners in Artist’s Alley.
