Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I’m on the road traveling to visit family for a delicious turkey dinner and I hope the rest of you in the U.S. all have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.
As for our cartoonists, here are their thoughts on Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful to work as a cartoonist and not to have a feeling of dread in my stomach on a Sunday evening.
–Alex Hallatt, Arctic Circle
On Thanksgiving, everybody in Hootin’ Holler is thankful to be eating turkey…except the turkey that is!
–John Rose, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith
I and my characters are thankful for friends, family and the freedom to be exactly who we are… OURSELVES!
–David Reddick, Intelligent Life
Thankful for friends and family. Here’s a shout out to MST3K, and fond memories of Turkey Day marathons spent with good friends.
— Jim Keefe,Sally Forth and Flash Gordon
I’m not sure what the Mitchells and Wilsons are thankful for, but I know what Ruff ISN’T thankful for.
–Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace
Even though I feel sorry that so many turkeys had to die for Thanksgiving, turkey is still my favorite meat. I recently went to a deli to get some lunch for Cathy and me and told the the clerk to fix us us a sandwich of turkey and Swiss cheese, “and be sure it’s Swiss cheese because my wife likes the taste of the holes.” The clerk looked at me in disbelief, but the minute I turned to leave he turned to his partner and they both looked at me and started laughing at the dumb guy who ordered the Swiss cheese with the tasty holes. Oh, well, I’m thankful that my dumb humor doesn’t involve the turkey.
–Mort Walker, Beetle Bailey
–Jim Margulies, Editorial Cartoonist
Mary’s thankful for the wonderful friends she’s made near and far over the years!
–Karen Moy, Mary Worth
What’s Zippy thankful for? The things that make this country the envy of the world—Orange vinyl! Tuna melts! Waitresses name Floreen!
–Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead
