Greetings Comics Royalty,
This week we enjoyed a very special visitor: Renee Faundo, winner of the this year’s Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship and an exceptionally talented young cartoonist studying animation at CalArts, was the guest blogger on Comics Kingdom. Her art style is beautifully whimsical and totally unique. You can see her posts and artwork here. We wish her continued success and look forward to watching her grow and evolve as an artist.
Check back on Monday to hear Renee’s wrap-up of her time here!
Also, this week saw many cartoonists and even some characters getting soaked while doing the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.
One cartoonist who did the challenge and assisted another cartoonist with theirs was none other than Hilary Price (“Rhymes With Orange”). She gave a helping hand to Mo Willems as he accepted his Ice Bucket Challenge …
In other news …
Some of our cartoonists are feeling very sketchy lately, including Jeff Parker (“Dustin”) who posted a sketch of a pumped-up Ed Kudlick and David Reddick (“Intelligent Life”) who opened up his sketchbook and shared incredible artwork of Dumbledore “Harry Potter” …
Fans of Sandra Bell Lundy’s graphic essay “Empty-Nester” series can read Part Two here …
Brian Walker posts a gallery of vintage “Hi & Lois” comics and the conclusion of the Flagstons’ 1999 road trip on the “Hi & Lois” blog …
John Rose (“Barney Google Snuffy Smith”) finds creative inspiration in the cartoon art displayed on his studio wall …
Dan Piraro (“Bizarro”) talks about parental qualifications, dogs, hitmen and tornadoes in his latest blog post …

Finally, Popeye and Olive Oyl are featured in a new Popeye apparel collection at UNIQLO.com.
Thanks for visiting! Come back again next Friday.
Have a great weekend!
