Editor’s Dispatch: Operation Comix Relief at Boston Comic Con

by Countess Tea

Hi, all! I spent the weekend at Boston Comic Con– yes, I don’t get enough comics at work, so when I take a vacation day, I use it to spend more time around comics.

Here I am in my favorite Popeye shirt on Saturday!

While I was there, I caught up with fellow comics lover and Popeye historian Fred Grandinetti, who was working tirelessly for Operation Comix Relief, an organization that ships comics care packages overseas to military servicepeople.

Fred was decked out in his own Popeye-esque style, selling books and making sketches to raise money for Operation Comix Relief’s shipping costs, and was happy to chat with me about the organization and all the great things they’re doing, and he even gave me some awesome little Popeye miniatures.
