Dostlar Arasinda means “Between Friends” in Turkish. (Dostlar = Friends and Arasinda = Between)
Below is a photocopy of a very early (about 1994-95) Between Friends strip that appeared in a Turkish newspaper. My sales rep sent me the original but unfortunately, it was lost in a house move. The good thing is I made photocopies of it. I have no idea why I did this but I’m glad I did. (Between Friends no longer appears in Turkey)
I have no idea what the strip says…my memory isn’t that good. I think it was something to do with how ineffective no-smoking sections are in restaurants. But… I still get a kick out of seeing the word balloons written in the Turkish language. Translations for strips are done by the foreign newspaper.
Poor Maeve and Susan…yikes…check out those hair styles!
