Ask a Cartoonist: Valentines Greetings!

by Countess Tea

Ahh, love is in the air…or, in my case, the scent of chocolate-covered raspberry-flavored marshmallow Peep hearts is in the air– man, I’ve eaten too many of those for my own good.

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is a day that tends to inspire strong emotions, so today, I asked our cartoonists to send along their Valentine greetings or a favorite Valentine’s strip of years past!

 –Tom Armstrong, Marvin

“Valentine’s Day starts in the bedroom, note the Kaplan kids. Happy Valentine’s Day!” –Terri Libenson, The Pajama Diaries

 –Stephanie Piro, Six Chix

 –Patrick McDonnell, Mutts

 –Mort Walker, Beetle Bailey

 “Yo’re Bodacious, Valentine!”
–John Rose, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith

–Jim Keefe, Sally Forth & Flash Gordon

–Rina Piccolo, Tina’s Groove & Six Chix

 –Bud Grace, Piranha Club

 –Bill Griffith, Zippy The Pinhead

–Isabella Bannerman, Six Chix

Detective Stan Defoe is devoid of romance or sentiment.  Hardwired to be wary and suspicious, this is the closest he would get to romantic poetry:-

‘Little dabs of powder, little drops of paint,
That’s what makes a little girl exactly what she ain’t’

–Kieran Meehan, Pros & Cons

–John Hambrock. The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee
