This cartoon was published on a day that is also my mother’s birthday, which is why if you look closely, you’ll see a happy-birthday message to my mom. She’s a terrific lady, lots of fun, rarely gets into bar fights anymore, always willing to give anyone the shirt off her back. (Which sometimes leads to an indecent exposure arrest, but that doesn’t stop her. That’s how big her heart is!) Happy birthday, Mom. You’re the best!

BIZARRO BOOMERANG: Back from 2004 is another cartoon I did about hunting trophies. I find the notion archaic and disdainful, of course, but I have to admit I find animal parts of almost any kind fascinating. I have a collection of skulls, teeth, husks, horns, etc. that I’ve found in the wild or at flea markets. I guess it’s fair to say that I don’t mind people who display animal parts, as long as they are not doing so as a celebration of killing it, or financially contributing to the person who killed it.
