The Road Trip – Sunday Page #4

By Jeremy Meltingtallow

The final Sunday page in the 1966 vacation sequence shows the Flagstons on their way back from their tour of the western United States. Anyone who has ever traveled in an automobile with their family should recognize the humor in this conversational exchange.  Hi did most of the driving on the road trip and constantly had to field questions from his restless passengers.

The Flagston’s boxy station wagon looks more like an older 1950s model than the sleeker styles that were introduced by American automakers in the mid-1960s.  Seat belts were not in common use at that time, which explains why Trixie is sitting in Lois’ lap and the twins are rolling around in the back seat.

The final week of daily strips, which shows the family returning home, will be posted in a few days, so stay tooned.
