In the 1960s, King Features sent out color proofs to their artists. We have a near-complete set for Hi and Lois, spanning the years from 1954 to 1970. Although this page is not in perfect condition, these color proofs are extremely rare.
Hi and Lois Sunday page color proof, July 17, 1966.
The first Sunday page of the vacation story shows the Flagstons driving across what looks like the Great Plains of the United States. This sequence gave Dik Browne an ideal opportunity to do some spectacular scenery.
We will be posting the second week of daily strips from this series in a few days, so stay tooned.
