HOW WE CAN FINALLY MEET

Come to my studio this weekend and let’s cavort!  Every year, over 50 artists in my building open their doors to the public to meet, greet and sell their wares. There’s jewelry, textiles, paintings– more cool art than you can shake a stick at.

I love showing people my studio and will have prints, cards and pads for sale.  And, as is my custom, I will also ply you with teeny cups of wine.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HAIR

I was out in San Francisco for a brief visit, which happened to fall during the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers.  My friend and her partner had chosen to become Giants fans for unusual reasons:  They had a 3 year-old son, and after putting him to bed at 7:30 each night they were stuck inside their tiny apartment until they went to sleep.  They figured the Giants play 162 games during the regular season, affording them almost half a year of something to do.

So, we were watching the World Series. And, since baseball isn’t the most action-packed sport to watch, we needed something  to do while we were having something to do. So while Pablo Sandoval hit home runs, we henna-ed our hair.  By the end of the game (Giants 8, Tigers 3), it was time to rinse.

My friend’s hair looked brilliant.  Mine looked brilliantly orange.

The next day we drove out over the Golden Gate Bridge to a pumpkin patch in Marin County. The hayride only ran on weekends and the petting zoo was closed, but we had fun stomping on the rotting pumpkins that were in the compost pile on the outer edge of the patch.   When we brought our good pumpkin up to the counter, the woman at the register stopped me, looked me in the eye and said,

“It is SO nice to see someone with seasonal hair.”
