Near Misses

Okay, I’m finally updating my blog. I feel like a student who shirks her homework assignment for weeks, then finally sits down to do it and discovers it’s not so hard after all.

Anyway, I thought I’d post something fun today. Here are examples of strips that never made it to the papers. This one was supposed to be published in September — I pulled it at the last minute:

I thought this cartoon showed the character, Jill, in a negative light, as if copping out on her “motherly” responsibilities. Still, I like the flow and timing of the strip.

Here’s one I wrote in ’06 but never published for more obvious reasons (parents, avert small children’s eyes). I’ve written some edgy ones, but this crosses the line for the funny pages.

Thankfully, I’ve learned how to self-edit.

If any other near-misses come up, I’ll post them from time to time.
