In the second Sunday page from the 1954 furlough sequence, Beetle goes in "Pop's Shop" to discover his father working on his latest concoction. This episode is autobiographical because Mort Walker's father, Robin, was an amateur inventor. One of his pet projects was a hair restoring ointment. My grandfather never succeeded with any of these hair-brained schemes.

In the next two daily epsiodes of Beetle's visit, his parents share with him their plans for renovating the house. The repairs have already started in the basement.

Next week we will post the concluding episodes of the historic 1954 furlough story so be sure to check back.
