An anonymous source has credited the popular Netflix show ‘Stranger Things’ as being inspired by true events. The news comes out as the date for the third season’s premiere draws near. The source, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the kids in the show are based on his friends. “I mean, they got the angsty leader, the smart one, the rascal, the cute girl, and the one who always goes missing; all of them are based on my buddies and my girlfriend … OK, she’s not my girlfriend, but she will be soon. Hopefully next week,” our source , who anonymously called our offices right before closing time, informs us. “And we fight off these monsters while riding our bicycles and we kept getting splattered with ectoplasm. We even witnessed cars flipping! And the best part: Our parents never cared where we were! How does that not sound like the perfect show for a popular streaming service?!”
With so many elements in the show that represent older movies from veteran filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Richard Donner, and John Hughes, we couldn’t help but to ask our source about the similarities. “We’re just big fans of the ’80s,” claims the source. “You wanna know what our favorite movies growing up were? ‘The Goonies’ and ‘E.T.’ and ‘Ghostbusters’! We really like ‘Ghostbusters.’ We MADE SURE they added some ‘Ghostbusters’ to it, otherwise there was no deal. Also, today’s music? Puh-LEASE! Lady Gaga has NOTHING on Cyndi Lauper! We were born in the wrong decade, because we listen to a lot of New Order and A Flock Of Seagulls. Oh, and have you ever heard of a band called Queen?” In the middle of the conversation, our source was abruptly interrupted by someone we can only assume is their mother, yelling at them to go downstairs to eat dinner.
