It's the 200th Anniversary of Mary Shelly's creation, "Frankenstein"! I did the above cartoon in celebration. Mary Shelley came up with the idea for her story in 1816 while staying in Geneva with Percy Bysshe Shelley, her poet husband, and his buddy, Lord Byron, who came up with the idea, one evening, that they each write a ghost story. The rest is horror writing history. And the basis for some classic horror films, James Whale's "Frankenstein" and "Bride of Frankenstein". I recently read a great new graphic novel based on Mary Shelly's life "Mary's Monster" by Lita Judge that was added to the collection at the Library where I work. Here's a link to this fascinating work: "Mary's Monster".
