It's the holiday season-- and even though our Hanukkah latkes are but a memory, we've got Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's on the horizon. This week, our cartoonists share their holiday wishes with all of you!
John Rose, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith:
Bodacious Merry Christmas wishes from Snuffy Smith and all his family and friends in Hootin' Holler! And from the Rose family, too!
Jimmy Margulies, Editorial Cartoonist:
Jeff Parker, Dustin:
Back when we first launched Dustin in 2010, my 88-year-old Mom made these nifty Dustin felt ornaments for our Christmas tree. Megan, Helen, Dustin, and Ed have been reserved the best spots on our tinseled tannenbaum ever since. Happy Holidays to all from Team Dustin!
Before I became Bizarro's daily cartoonist, I assisted Dan as colorist for three years and for 10 years, wrote tons of gags. I don't think I'll ever top this Christmas Eve cartoon, but I'll keep trying.
Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead:
Zippy's re-write of the well-worn holiday song---gather 'round the yule log and celebrate the birth of Wilma Flintstone!
Jim Keefe & Francesco Marciuliano, Sally Forth:
Wishing you and yours a Happy Holidays!
Brian Walker, Hi & Lois and Beetle Bailey:
In the mid-1960s, at the peak of the “Happiness is …” craze, my father, Mort Walker, produced a 20-page booklet with original cartoons on the theme of, “A Merry Christmas is…” Here are the opening pages of that holiday greeting card.
In 2011, I decided to revisit this idea in a Hi and Lois Sunday page. Chance referenced the original Walker Christmas card for the design and did a great job with the calligraphy.
We wish all of our readers A Merry Christmas. - Brian and Greg Walker, Chance Browne and Eric Reaves.
Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace:
Hank did a few tender Christmas panels along with the funny ones over the years.
Stephanie Piro, Six Chix:
This is one of my very favorite Six Chix holiday cartoons.
Merry Christmas and Happy everything else, too!
Dan Piraro, Bizarro:
Hope you have a dandy holiday.
Susan Camilleri Konar, Six Chix:
Here’s hoping your holidays are less painful...
Isabella Bannerman, Six Chix:
Here is my Holiday card for the year (which I delayed sending by snail mail to the point of making it useless) but the title is “Angry Bird,” and as you can see, the little cardinal is upset that his habitat is being diminished. Perhaps it is just as well that I am sending this to you digitally instead of using paper.
Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays to all - no matter how you celebrate.
Patrick Roberts, Todd the Dinosaur:
