Father’s Day is coming up this weekend, so we’d like to offer a very fond Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, and dads-to-be reading Comics Kingdom!
We’ve got a VERY special treat for you starting this Sunday– an all-new-comic just for all the hard-working dads out there who love their kids. Introducing Daddy Daze by John Kovaleski, a comic about single dad Paul and his exuberant baby son, Angus.
John Kovaleski’s got a Father’s Day wish for all of you:
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Remember: although it’s an exhausting job, with no pay, the benefits are great.
And here are more from King Features cartoonists!
Bruce Tinsley, Mallard Fillmore:
The very best thing about having my own comic strip for 24 years has been being able to be a stay-at-home dad, while working full-time.. And being a dad is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, period. Sure, you work 80-hour weeks, but you get to decide when you work! I never missed a school play, picking them up after school, a great day for tree-climbing or tag in the park across the street. Whenever I talk about what I’d have done differently with my adult children now, my son will say, “yeah, Dad, without Mom, we’d probably not have gotten our vaccinations, or maybe any medical care, gone to school, or eaten dinner before midnight. In fact, we’d probably be dead. And you were clueless about helping us apply to colleges. But you were the fun parent! You always had time to play with us, and talk to us! At this point, I’ll take that. Happy Father’s Day.
Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead:
My Dad and I had our problems, but he did predict the popularity of the Sport Utility Vehicle 38 years before its time.
Alex Hallat, Arctic Circle:
Unlike Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is the same in the US and the UK (though it is 2nd September in New Zealand). Having to submit my cartoons many weeks ahead means I’m given a heads up and far less likely to forget to call my own dad! Happy Day to fathers everywhere.
Bill Hobrook, Kevin & Kell, On the Fastrack, and Safe Havens:
As for news, this month’s Dethany video will have a “guest” filling in while she and Guy are on vacation. Yes, it will be Fi taking questions from readers. I hope to have it posted next weekend. After that, my next con will be Anthrocon in Pittsburgh on July 6-8. There, I’ll debut the new “Kevin & Kell” paperback collection, “Little Shop of Carnivores.”
John Rose, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith:
I hope each and every father in our readership gets everything they want to eat for Father’s Day…just like Snuffy! Yum!
Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace:
With the wealth of Father panels in the Ketcham storehouse, it’s pretty easy contributing to this week’s topic. The hard part is narrowing it down to TWO.
Jim Keefe, Sally Forth and Flash Gordon:
One of my Dad’s favorite pastimes was fishing, so here’s a drawing I did of him for Father’s Day 1992.
