Ask a Cartoonist: Holiday Wishes!

by Tea

Hi, all!

It’s getting chilly in New York and the city is bright with holiday lights! In the spirit of the season, I asked all of our cartoonists to tell us what they want (or what their characters want!) for the holidays. Here are their answers.

Alex Hallatt, Arctic Circle:

I moved back to New Zealand a month ago and we’re having an early Christmas present of a retaining wall put in, after a “slip” of a couple of shed loads of dirt hit the back of the house in July.

And in general, I’d love an end to all bullying, be it at a classroom, corporate, or global level. And (shameless plug) if you are looking for a way to spread this message, kids 8-12 love to read the first in my series of Friends Against Bullying Club books (books2read.com/FABClub). I’m working on the sequel which will come out next year.

Ron Ferdinand, Dennis the Menace:

Actually,it would probably be easier to list the things Dennis DOESN’T want for Christmas. LOL!

Bill Holbrook, Kevin & Kell, On the Fastrack, and Safe Havens:

This holiday season, the cast of Safe Havens is wishing for a safe voyage to Mars. Meanwhile, in On the Fastrack Dethany wishes for better suggestions from Autocorrect, as we saw in last year’s strip:

Bill Griffith, Zippy the Pinhead:

I’ll be spending Christmas with my family in Montpelier, Vermont (including my niece’s one year old twins). Zippy, on the other hand will be curling up with his HDTV and a large jar of Macadamia nuts.

John Rose, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith:

Since I am a creative person, like little Tater, I hope to get some art supplies for Christmas! Pens, paper, brushes, markers, etc…But I also love receiving books, especially comic strip book collections and cartoon art books. If you have someone on your holiday shopping list who likes comic strip book collections like me, please check out my 2016 Snuffy Smith Book collection, Balls Of Fire!
