News Around the Kingdom: WORKSHOPS, SCRABBLE AND A CAN OF SPAM

by The King

Hello, Royal Readers,

This week, RHYMES WITH ORANGE cartoonist Hilary Price tells us she has just published a new edition of her Charming-Yet-Infrequent Newsletter. This issue is chock full of fun stuff, including late-breaking news about an event TONIGHT! Friday, May 12, at 7:30 P.M.,
at the Brattleboro (Mass.) Museum & Art Center, Hilary hosts an evening with three speedy cartoonists who will create hilariouis comics right before the eyes of the audience. If you’re bopping around Brattleboro, check it out! And then, from June 5 to 8 at the Center For Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vt., Hilary will conduct an intensive four-day workshop on how to write and draw single-panel cartoons. SNUFFY SMITH cartoonist John Rose tells us he’s headin’ for Pidgeon Forge, Tenn., for the Wilderness Wildlife Week! Thar’s excitin’ programming coming up, including a Snuffy Chalk Talk, Cartoonies for Kids and a Book Signin’, Snuffy style. Check out the details on John’s blog this week!

One of my favorite memories from last year’s Wilderness Wildlife Week is teaching this young Snuffy Smith fan how to draw Jughaid Smith!

What the heck is a photo of a can of Spam doing in the middle of this discussion of the comics? ARCTIC CIRCLE cartoonist Alex Hallatt makes the startling connection between fact and fiction. Click here to check out her blog.
