Hello, Royal Readers,
This week, we marked the arrival of the spring equinox. MUTTS cartoonist Patrick McDonnell and the gang celebrated by showcasing 10 of their favorite ways to honor the occasion. Click here to check it out!
SNUFFY SMITH cartoonist John Rose talks this week about “Cartoonin’ To End Polio!” He volunteered this past weekend to help raise money for the cause by drawing cartoons and caricatures during the Rotary District 7570 Conference in Hot Springs, Va. Check out more about this rewarding event here: http://snuffysmithcomics.com
In other news, Brian Walker looks back into the BEETLE BAILEY archives in his “Timeline – 1962” series, In Part 1, he reports that Sergeant Orville Snorkel, or Sarge as he is more fondly called, was being featured more in gags than any other character. Check out more interesting stuff about Sarge here.
Meanwhile, in the HI AND LOIS episode, Brian showcases a Sunday page in which a very early form of cartooning – a primitive drawing style — is used to express a child’s point of view. To read more, click here.
Finally, BIZARRO cartoonist Dan Piraro has some fun this week explaining why he finds certain things useful in his cartooning — like hats. Funny stuff! Check it out here.
Thanks for catching up on this week’s News Around the Kingdom.
Have a great week and see you again next Friday!
