Editor's Dispatch: Popeye's Island Adventures!

We’ve got big news to share today!

We are so excited to present our all-new Popeye cartoon series especially for kids: POPEYE’S ISLAND ADVENTURES!  You can watch it today on the Popeye and Friends YouTube channel!

Like so many of you, we grew up with Popeye on our television sets (and definitely tried to lift a car or two after eating our spinach). If, like us, you’re one of those people who has been looking for a version of Popeye to share with your children or grandchildren, look no further!

In Popeye’s Island Adventures, we see a young Popeye growing his beloved spinach on the roof of his cool dieselpunk houseboat, on the island where he lives with his BFF Olive Oyl. Bluto is still around, bullying Popeye as he tries to steal his spinach and gain Popeye’s strength…but Popeye and Olive are ready to put their heads (and spinach cans) together to save the day!

And even though this show is created for young viewers, if you look very closely, you’ll see some Easter Eggs meant just for classic Thimble Theatre fans.

Popeye is one of the most beloved cartoon characters in the world. After first appearing in E.C. Segar’s Thimble Theatre, he debuted on the silver screen in 1933, and has appeared in many incarnations over the years, from those original Max Fleischer cartoons to a Wilco music video, and more!  And we’re eager to bring Popeye to a new generation of boys and girls in this all-new YouTube series!

We hope you enjoy Popeye’s new adventures as much as we do!
