The Best & The Wittiest is a weekly package of at least 25 timely and thought-provoking editorial cartoons, of varied styles and views, from such award-winning editorial cartoonists as Rex Babin,John Branch, Gary Brookins, Brian Duffy, David M. Hitch, Lee Judge, Jeff Koterba, Jimmy Margulies, Rick McKee, Kevin Siers and Kirk Walters.

Jimmy Margulies

Jimmy Margulies has been the editorial cartoonist for The Record in Hackensack, N.J., since 1990 (visit www.northjersey.com/margulies for his daily work). His caricatures are also featured in King Features Graphic Impressions, a weekly package.

Margulies began drawing and publishing editorial cartoons while at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design.

In 1980, he joined the Army Times, and its suburban newspaper outside Washington, D.C., the Journals, as editorial cartoonist, winning awards from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, the National Newspaper Association, and both the Virginia and Maryland-D.C.-Delaware Press Associations. In 1984, he joined the Houston Post as editorial cartoonist for six years.

His cartoons have been reprinted in various magazines, newspapers, and books, including Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, Business Week, Forbes, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, The Dallas Morning News. His work has also been featured on The MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour and Good Morning America.

Margulies work has been honored with numerous professional and civic awards, including first prize in the Western Hemisphere and Global Media Awards in 1990, a Berryman Cartoon Award (2nd place) in 1993, the 1996 National Headliner Award, first place in the John Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition, First Prize in 1999 from the Garden State Association of Black Journalists and first place in editorial cartoons from the Working Press Association of New Jersey in 2000. Most recently, Marguiles won third prize in The 2001 United Nations Correspondents Association Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Award, the highest award won by an American cartoonist in this contest. He has published two collections of editorial cartoons: My Husband is Not a Wimp, and Hitting Below the Beltway.
